Fundraising

The money MEDLIFE raises can go to three different areas, each one addressing one of the different MEDs (medicine, education, and development)

MEDICINE: Bringing medicine to rural Latin America. This includes a fund to build a community hospital, paying for medications, salaries for Latin American healthcare providers, and for continued care of patients beyond medical brigades. For example, heart surgery costs under $1000 in Ecuador.

EDUCATION: Raising money to provide scholarships for graduate education for students coming from low income families. Lack of education due to cost is a roadblock for many motivated individuals and helping these students get an education can provide countless opportunities for their families.

DEVELOPMENT: The final area is providing micro-credit loans to groups of business minded individuals empowering them to start their own businesses and lift themselves out of poverty. Providing loans to small groups, in the Gramin model, we can help individuals start businesses and help them help themselves to a better life. Student chapters will be able to raise money and loan your money to groups in Latin America. When you go on a brigade you may be able to visit with your loan group.
