Expansion Team
Working in conjunction with the SAB, the MEDLIFE Expansion Team aims to bring MEDLIFE to universities and colleges that do not currently host MEDLIFE Student Chapters. The Expansion Team works to identify motivated individuals at such schools and assists them in the process of founding a new chapter. This process involves hosting an official MEDLIFE presentation for interested students, arranging a MEDLIFE fundraiser, coordinating the school's first Mobile Clinic, and working with the school's administration to establish the MEDLIFE chapter as a school-recognized student club.
Expansion Team members are selected by the Team Coordinate, Joseph Tylutki, and commit themselves to a year-long position on the Expansion Team. As it is incredibly essential that new chapters and student leaders are clearly educated regarding MEDLIFE's mission, all Expansion Team Members must have an exhaustive knowledge of MEDLIFE's operations.
By helping to start MEDLIFE Chapters at new schools, Expansion Team members are directly responsible for the positive results achieved by those chapters. On average, an Expansion Team member who expands MEDLIFE to 5 new schools is responsible for delivering care to 1,934 patients on Mobile Clinics, and for $4,395 fundraised towards MEDLIFE Fund development projects!

One of the first members of Syracuse University MEDLIFE Chapter, Emmanuel is currently a Senior at SU. MEDLIFE and Pamplona’s residents made a mark on him when he participated in our MEDLIFE Summer 2010 Internship. He worked alongside Tommy Flint, Nick Ellis, Mariana Shtukina, Carlos Benavides, Angie Vidal, and Nate Pedrini Anderson on our first two staircase projects. He was also part of the coordination of a Mega Clinic Event where almost 1,000 patients were treated. He hopes that in the near future he can come back to Lima and see all the improvement MEDLIFE has made in Pamplona since he left.

Amara stumbled upon MEDLIFE through the UGA pre-med listserv. After getting involved with the UGA chapter, a brigade to Lima gave her the chance to truly experience what MEDLIFE does to assist the under-served. Through that trip she fell in love with the work and decided to serve as a year-long intern in Lima. She is looking forward to helping other students further or discover their interest in global heath.
