Help Build a school in Ecuador

On April 24th, 2010, MEDLIFE is organizing a national fundraiser with all of our chapters. We are fundraising to build a school for the rural indigenous community of Telan Playa in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador. Currently the community has one room to teach 55 students in grades K-8. The teachers are forced to teach at the same time making it very difficult for children to learn. MEDLIFE is working to build a seperate school so that the students can focus on learning.

First Brigade to Peru!

In the summer of 2009 MEDLIFE organized its first ever medical brigade to Peru.  The destination chosen was Cusco, Peru, near the ruins of Machu Pichu.  The University of New England college of medicine expressed interest and a few short months later they had organized a medical brigade and were in Cusco!

The turn out was phenomenal for MEDLIFE’s first medical brigade to Peru, in two weeks the team saw over 1000 patients!

First Amazon Brigade

In July 2009 students from the University of Vermont, Union College, Binghamton University, Univeristy of Pennsylvania, University of Maine, and Claremont McKenna College participated in the first-ever MEDLIFE medical mission to the Ecuadorian Amazon. The team of students, doctors, and dentists attended to over 500 patients in indigenous communities (Campanacocha, Tambayacu, Huayrayacu, and Ongota) near Tena, Ecuador—sometimes traveling up the Napo river by canoe to reach the remote villages.
