HOTELS

MEDLIFE always arranges for Mobile Clinic participants to lodge in reputable, safe, and clean hotels.  All hotels at which we stay have electricity, running water and hot showers, internet access,  clean linens, and safe-lock boxes for valuables.  Bottled water and safe food are always available either at the hotel itself or at nearby establishments.  Below are listed some hotels at which participants commonly reside (please note it is not guaranteed that you will stay at one of these hotels, a MEDLIFE representative will provide specific hotel details in advance of your trip).

MEALS

Breakfast is provided at the hotel (typically juice/tea/coffee, fruit, bread, and eggs).  A bag lunch is provided during Clinic days.   Dinner is taken either at the hotel or at a reputable local restaurant.  Bottled water is provided daily.  MEDLIFE employees work to ensure that all food and facilities are safe for consumption by travelers.

Meals are provided Mon-Fri of the Mobile Clinic. Participants are responsible for financing their own meals on weekends, however MEDLIFE staff will often coordinate the restaurant which the group will attend.

If you have any dietary restraints or allergies, it is your responsibility to inform MEDLIFE staff before your arrival.  If you have severe dietary restrictions, we recommend that you bring snack foods with you, as the variety of options available to you in Latin America may be somewhat limited.

SAFETY

MEDLIFE staff place the greatest value on the safety of our participants.   MEDLIFE meets all incoming students at the airport and accompanies them to the hotel via private transportation.  In fact, participants use solely private transportation throughout the entire week (to/from the airport, clinic sites, and tourist activities).  Participants are warned to only leave the hotel during the day if they are in groups of greater than 5 people, and to not leave the hotel at all at night unless accompanied or given authorization by MEDLIFE staff.  MEDLIFE staff are always present at the communities where we conduct our Mobile Clinics.

Participants are responsible for purchaing their own travel health insurance and receiving any necessary immunizations (as recommended by the CDC and/or their local travel clinic).
