Our Team

MEDLIFE currently functions in the USA solely through the support of volunteer workers, including the members of our Executive Board. Dedicated students and professionals are truly essential to our operations in the USA. In Latin America and Africa, MEDLIFE employs a number of full-time staff to coordinate our Mobile Clinics and MEDLIFE Project Fund projects, and to provide year-round follow up care to patients we encounter during our Mobile Clinics.

staff-nick-ellis2NICOLAS ELLIS, MD
Nick Ellis founded MEDLIFE as a University of Maine student group in 2004. On his own initiative, Nick began working with doctors in Ecuador to deliver medical services to rural villages in the Andes mountain range. After encountering patients who were in need of surgical intervention, Nick returned to Maine and, with the help of committed students, raised money to pay for these patients medical care.
In 2010, Nick received his Medical Doctorate from Dartmouth Medical School. He is currently a Emergency Medicine resident at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. His future goals for the organization are twofold.
Firstly, to develop MEDLIFE into a leading global health NGO that works in third world countries worldwide to establish better and more sustainable healthcare systems. Secondly, to educate and empower students along the way, setting anyone interested in global health or international development on a clear path toward impacting a positive change in our world.
