Fundraising towards your Participation Fee: The 50:50 Campaign
How can you reduce the cost of your participation in a Mobile Clinic? With our 50:50 online fundraising campaign! When you apply to a Mobile Clinic, an online fundraising campaign page is automatically created for you. To visit your campaign, simply sign in to your myMEDLIFE account on our homepage, click on the myMEDLIFE 'Campaigns' tab, and visit your campaign, titled: "[Your username]'s Mobile Clinic campaign." From here, you'll be able to upload a campaign photo, edit the campaign description, create a unique URL for your page, send emails out to friends and family to solicit donation, and check to see who has donated and how many donations you've received in total.
In order to maximize the success of your fundraising, you should be sure to personally customize your campaign page and to send out emails and letters to friends soliciting contributions. Many students also dedicate their birthdays toward their campaign fundraising, or run marathons or host events in order to raise additional money.
For every dollar that you earn through your online Mobile Clinic fundraising campaign, 50 cents will go to you as a discount off of your participation fee, and 50 cents will go to the Mission Fund, MEDLIFE's primary source of operational funding.
Why does 50% of your fundraising go toward your participation fee discount? Because at MEDLIFE, we always want to put the needs of our patients' as equal to our own. We understand that many participants are facing difficult financial circumstances, and the participation fee presents a great expense. But we have to remember that our patients are facing extremely difficult situations as well. We want all of our participants to fundraise both for themselves and for our patients, to share the proceeds of their efforts with those who need it most. With the 50:50 campaign, you can reduce the cost of your personal experience on the Mobile Clinic, while also making a valuable monetary contribution to those who benefit from MEDLIFE's greater aid work.
While MEDLIFE wants students to be able to reduce their cost of participation or even go for free, the 50:50 campaign was never designed for a student to make money but rather decrease the financial stress associated with participating in a mobile clinic.
You can fundraise towards your entire participation fee, as well as up to $1000 off of the price of your airfare!
How does that work?
For the first $1359.00 you raise, you'll receive discounts off of your participation fee (50% of what you raised). If you raise $1359, that means you get 100% off of your fee! (1359 X 50% = $679.50 = full participation fee)
If you raise more than $1359, all subsequent donations will go towards a travel stipend. Once your campaign ends, MEDLIFE will send you a travel reimbursement equal to 50% of all donations you received beyond $1359. For example, if you raise $1759, you'll get a check for $200 (1759 - 1359 = 400 X 50% = $200).
