During our first MEDLIFE Mobile Clinic week, we stopped to talk with one of our top fundraising students who utilized the 50:50 Campaign to raise $1,205. Jorge Menas tells us how he did it:
How did you get involved with MEDLIFE?
"I first heard about MEDLIFE when Tommy and Joe stopped by Georgia Tech and gave a brief introduction in one my biomedical engineering classes. That really captured my attention and made me want to know how to get involved with the MEDLIFE mission. They scheduled another meeting later that day where they explained everything in more detail."
"I fell in love with it immediately -- I needed to do this."

Why did you decide to use MEDLIFE's 50:50 campaign?
"I felt drawn to the 50:50 campaign after the process was explained to me by Joe and Tommy. I knew immediately that it would be the best way to fundraise because it was quick, easy, and safe for everyone to donate."
"Not only could I raise money for myself to participate in the Mobile Clinic, but I also liked the fact that $300 or $600 of that money could help build staircases for the people here in Pamplona and make such a big difference in their lives."
How were you successful in raising money and getting the word out?
"In order to raise money, I just wrote a letter explaining what I wanted to, how I planned to do it and how my friends and family could help me do it. I also provided a link to videos so that my friends and family could see the reality of how these people live every day."
How has your experience with MEDLIFE in Lima impacted you?
"Being able to be here has made a huge impact in my life. Not only have I made great friendships with people that I would've never been able to know (since they live in different parts of the country), but I've also been able to see how a little bit of help can make such a great difference in the lives of the poor."
